This small, tight-knit community in the Southwestern Ohio and is located in south-central Clinton County. Midland has a population of 308 residents, which has remained the same over the years.
Originally named Clinton Valley, Midland resides along the famed B&O Rail line, which is said to have at one time brought economic vitality to the area during the late 1800s. Originally, the town was made up of a post office, a grocery store, a barber shop, a schoolhouse, and a rail house which at the time was also a small diner and hotel for rail passengers. Unlike other towns, Midland’s population has remained the same for the past century.
It reached its highest during the 1970s, when it had a spike of 388 people. In recent years, Clinton County officials have sought to revitalize Midland and preserve its historical locations.
